Phonics

Lesson: English

Class: Reception Year: 2021 - 2022

The children are working hard in their phonics lessons. Every day they learn a new phoneme (unit of sound) and corresponding grapheme (the way a phoneme is written). On a Friday we review the graphemes and phonemes introduced that week. In each lesson there are opportunities to pronounce the phoneme, write the corresponding grapheme, orally blend words with this new phoneme and read words containing the grapheme.

In our reading sessions and writing activities in the classroom the children continuously practise and apply their phonic skills. They are phonics superstars!
