The Great Fire of London.

Lesson: History

Class: Year 2SW Year: 2017 - 2018

Over the last two exciting weeks we have been finding out about the Great Fire of London in 1666. We discovered how and where the fire started as well as why is spread so fast and did SO much damage. We looked at the layout of London back then and the construction of the Tudor houses.

We decided to design and build our own houses and to recreate the scenario in Pudding Lane on Sunday 2nd September 1666 and to set our own model bakery on fire and see what happened.

In 1666 there were no dedicated fire fighters and certainly no Fire Engines of a Fire Brigade so we thought it would be a good idea to invite Middlewich Fire Brigade to watch over us. Aswell as showing us what a modern fire fighter needs and what they do they also talked to us about fire safety at home and made us all Deputy Fire Officers!
