Art and Design

At Middlewich Primary School, we use Kapow Primary to deliver lessons to provide pupils with a high-quality Art and Design education that enables them to reflect on and critique their own artwork and that of others. The curriculum is designed to inspire and challenge pupils, fostering their creativity and critical thinking skills. The curriculum emphasises self-reflection and constructive feedback, encouraging students to assess and improve their own work. Pupils draw inspiration from various artists, using sketchbooks to experiment and develop their ideas. They engage in diverse techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, mixed media, craft, and sculpture, exploring elements like colour, form, line, pattern, shape, texture, and tone. The curriculum also includes studying the works of different artists to inspire personal artistic expression. It ensures progression in knowledge and skill development, catering to all abilities.
