The Great Get Together

The Great Get Together – Friday 16th June 2017

On Friday 16th June, we held a Great Get Together in memory of the MP Jo Cox. In her maiden speech in parliament Jo Cox said,

‘We are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us.’

To celebrate this we invited members of our local community to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and a delicious afternoon tea, all served by our year 6 pupils. Fiona Bruce, the MP for Congleton attended and said that the afternoon tea was one of the most delicious she had tasted. Middlewich’s new town mayor Mrs Samantha Moss attended also.

Our visitors had a variety of activities to take part in, a question and answer session about school life, a tour around our school from our year 6 pupils and we show cased all our wonderful IT equipment. Our visitors were then entertained by our signing choir and our pop choir.

Finally, a delicious afternoon tea was served to everyone.  It was a fabulous afternoon and brought our community closer together.

We asked our guests ‘What do you think unites us a country?’

They came up with the following,

  • Love
  • Sports
  • Religion
  • Children
  • Friends
  • Fish and chips
  • The Queen
  • A cuppa
  • Adversity, resolve and unity
  • Education
  • Royalty
  • Tea and cakes
  • Music
  • Our language
  • Caring for each other
  • Family
  • Consideration
  • Ethnicity
