Year 6 Zoom Blog 08.06.20

Date: 7th Jun 2020 @ 3:48pm

Hello Year 6,

We can’t wait to see all your smiley faces on Zoom this week!

Your Zoom session day and time will be the same as the week before half term. Your day and time will not change now. 6D Zoom sessions will be at 2pm on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.  6M sessions will be on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at 11am or 1pm. The Monday and Wednesday sessions are all at 1pm. The Tuesday and Thursday sessions are all at 11am. Please ask your parents/carers to look out for the email with all the relevant information on.

This week our Zoom session will start with palindromes (inspired by our reading of Holes). A palindrome is a word, phrase or sentence that reads the same from left to right as it does from right to left, e.g. Stanley Yelnats is a palindrome because it reads the same backwards! When you join the meeting, you will see some clues and all you have to do is write the answer. The answer is a palindrome.  It sounds complicated but it’s not – honest!

We will then quickly mark your answers and start a science quiz. In science, the questions will focus on electricity, light, the solar system and living things and their habitat. You may want to do a little revision before your meeting.

You will need to bring a pen and a piece of paper to your Zoom session. Also at the end of the session, there may be an opportunity to share any news and a piece of your work (if you want to) so have that ready just in case.

Please remember to position your camera so we can see your head and shoulders clearly. To make sure that we have a successful Zoom session you must ensure that you:

  • Are respectful, polite and considerate of others at all times.
  • Listen carefully to the teacher and what others say.
  • Wait for your teacher to un-mute you.
  • Do not try and distract other children in the session (e.g. by pulling a silly face).
  • Do not change your background because this can distract other children.
  • Do not capture anything on the screen.
  • Do not leave the session unless you absolutely have to.

If you display poor behaviour, you will receive a warning. If this continues, your video and microphone will be disabled and you may not be able to re-join the session.

We can’t wait to see you all.

Mrs Davies and Miss Merson

Hi everyone
I hope you all are ok.Yesterday it was my cousins birthday and she turned 8.I also called poppy,Lucy and Georgia Coxan, we played games together. I am exited to build a volcano and activate it so it looks like kava is flowing out.i have got a few questions for everybody.
Q1: I am thinking of a number, it’s in the 10 times table. Its an even number and it’s multiplied by the same digit. What number am I thinking of?
Q2: there are 36 sweets. In 3 bags there are 12 sweets. How many sweets in 1 bag?
Have a nice week 🤗👍

Hi Megan! That sounds like a good day to me! I am looking forward to seeing the volcano that you create.
Have another look at your question 2... If there are 12 sweets in 3 bags then I think the answer is 4 sweets per bag. But the beginning of the question says 36! Let us know...
Have a great week.

This week I have enjoyed reading my favourite book {The Beast Of Buckingham Palace By David Walliams} I am all most finished. This week I have also enjoyed gardening with my mum and next door neighbour { 2 metres apart!!!!!}. We have planted some lavender, pansys, and a rose bush. I have also finished painting a bird table for my grandmas birthday as she loves seeing all the birds in the garden as well as feeding them!!!! Hope everyone has a good week

Jess - What a lovely gift for your grandma. I bet she will really appreciate that! How have you found the gardening? As I said in our Zoom, I have really got into gardening lately! I have some lavender too but I keep finding metallic beetles on it which are killing the plant. I have to go out every night and shake the plant to get them off... I'm not sure what the neighbours think I'm doing!!
