‘Strive to grow, value, nurture, motivate’

Welcoming our new children!

Class: Reception Year: 2021 - 2022

The children in Reception are fully embracing school life! They have been busy exploring all areas of our indoor and outdoor classrooms, discovering the delights of the playground and challenging themselves in new learning opportunities.

The children have been working hard in maths focusing on numbers 1-5. They have been counting objects, selecting the correct numeral to show an amount and representing numbers on a five frame.

In phonics the children have been practising their listening skills. They have listened and described environmental and instrumental sounds as well as identifying some of the initial sounds in words.

We have also begun our 'All About Me' topic work. The children have been talking about their families, painting their self portraits and drawing who lives in their home. In science we have used books and songs to learn about the basic parts of the human body.

There has also been plenty of time for stories and nursery rhymes as this is a part of the day we always enjoy. This week we have focused on the nursery rhymes Humpty Dumpty and Baa Baa Black Sheep.

PE and music lessons are also in full swing and the children are enjoying their lessons with Mr Holbrooks and Mrs Biggs.

We are very proud of how well they are all doing.

Please take a look through the photos for a snapshot of what they have been up to!
