Year 4 - Summer Support

We hope that you enjoy the activities that have been planned for you. Follow the links below to access the recommended webpages and videos to help you to practise the knowledge that you have learnt this year. 

Reading

Whether you're sat on the beach, relaxing in your back garden or even having a lazy morning curled up in bed, it’s always a great time to lose yourself in a good book. Play ‘Book Bingo’ below - can you compelte a line or even shout ‘Book Bingo!’ by completing the whole chart? Record the titles you read in your summer diary. You could also write a mini review if you like!

Read a set of instructions for making a model, playing a game or a recipe

 

Read a non-fiction book

Read a book with more than 200 pages.

Read a chapter of your favourite book out loud to a family member (don’t forget super expression and intonation)

Read a story which makes you laugh.

Read a book by an author we’ve read a book by before e.g. Anne Fine, Roald Dahl

Read a book which was first published over 40 years ago.

Read a book with a villain.

Visit the library and choose a book that you’ve never read before

Heroes

Listen to an audio book – you could do this as a bedtime story.

Listen to a story read by an adult.

 

Writing

Each week, write a diary entry in your summer diary. This could include things you have done, things you have enjoyed or things you are looking forward to in Year 5. Perhaps your special diary will become a primary source of information that historians in the the future will read to find out what life was like in the Summer of 2021! Make sure it is written in your very best joined handwriting and punctuated correctly.

Visit this website to revise all of the key objectives from year 3 and 4 Spelling Revision

 

Maths

It is really important that you know all your key number facts ready for Year 5. Learn and practise all of your times table and division facts up to 12x12 on TT Rockstars. These websites may also be helpful to visit: TOPMARKS   BITESIZE  MATHS GAMES   MATHS FRAME

Also test yourself on the following:

  • Can you count in 4s, 8s, 50s, 100s?
  • Can you count in 6s, 7s, 9s, 25s, 1000s?
  • How many seconds in a minute? How many minutes in an hour? How many hours in a day?
  • How many months in a year? How many days in each month? How many days in a year?
  • How many tens in 100, 420, 340, 870, 1250? How many hundreds in 1000, 1300, 4500?
  • Say the decimal equivalents for ½, ¼, ¾
