Reading Remote Learning

Here are some extra reading ideas that your child may like to complete in addition to their weekly tasks:

  • Choose a favourite book to read to a friend or relative over FaceTime/skype. Show off your reading skills by making the story as entertaining as possible.
  • Arrange your teddies as your ‘class.’ Can you read them a story like your teacher reads you a story?
  • Create a book club with friends or family. Take it in turns to suggest a book/author and share your thoughts with friends either over the phone or via emails.
  • Listen to the daily audio story that David Walliams is releasing. Visit https://www.worldofdavidwalliams.com/elevenses/
  • Ask an adult to make you a treasure hunt. You can read the clues to find the treasure! This could be a nice activity to do in the garden or indoors.
  • Create a reading nook in for you to get cosy and snuggle up with a good book!
  • Enjoy a story with your brother or sister. Can the older children read a story to the younger ones?
  • Play ‘book charades.’ The rules of charades apply- no talking just actions! You can choose a theme for the game, e.g Julia Donaldson and write down a selection of book titles and characters. One player pick one at random (and keep it secret!). Can you act it out so your friends can guess the book?
  • Access the library onlinehttps://www.cheshireeast.gov.uk/libraries/libraries.aspx
  • Be a grapheme spotter - pick a magazine, newspaper or anthing that can be written on. Choose a phoneme and highlight, underline or circle all of the graphemes which make that sound.
