From September 1st 2015 the government reduced the persistent absence threshold from 15% to 10% of school sessions. The new persistent absence threshold will be set at 10% 38 sessions (19 days).

Middlewich Primary School is aiming high for the overall attendance of their pupils.  The attendance level has been set, in collaboration with the Governing Body, at 97%.

SpringTerm 2020

Term Time Holiday (Leave of Absence).

The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 amendments 2013 state that;

Head teachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances.

The amendments give parents no entitlement to take their child out of school for a holiday in term time.  The DfE anticipate that not many absences for leave in term time are authorised by schools.

Fixed Penalty Notices

As from 1st September 2017 any requests made for a holiday to be taken in the academic year 2017-2018 or thereafter which is not considered by the headteacher to be exceptional circumstances, will be recorded as unauthorised, and a Fixed Penalty Notice will be issued by the LA.
