5B Zoom Blog 22.06.2020

Date: 22nd Jun 2020 @ 9:18am

Good morning 5B!

It was lovely to see you all on Zoom last week. It is excellent to see you working so hard and I really enjoy sharing a story with you all and hearing you read.

Your Zoom session day and time will be the same as last week. Your day and time will not change now. The sessions will be at 11am on either Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Please ask your parents/carers to look out for the email with all the relevant information on.

Before our lesson, please watch this video: [Link here]. Our first task will be based on this as part of our new exciting topic in science: All living things and their habitats. Over the next few weeks you will be describing and comparing the life cycles of animals and plants. When you come into the meeting, please complete the task on the screen where you will be copying a factual paragraph and filling in the missing words. We will then mark your work and complete 4 arithmetic questions.

This week, I will be introducing you to a new text called ‘Simon Barbecue’ by Ciaran Murtagh. Simon is a legend in his own lifetime. There's nothing he won't do. Parachuting into the Amazon and finding his way home - no problem. Scaling mountains - all in a day's work. But reading between the lines, it becomes very clear that Simon's self-confidence far outstrips his survival skills, and that spending the night in a local garden centre isn't sufficient preparation for being parachuted into the Amazon...

Get ready for an adventure 5B as we are off to the continent of Asia to climb Mount Everest with Simon Barbecue! Do you think Simon's adventure will be a success? Let me know during our Zoom session!

You will need to bring a pen and a piece of paper to your Zoom session. At the end of the session, there may be an opportunity to share any news and a piece of your work (if you want to) so have that ready just in case.

Please remember to position your camera so we can see your head and shoulders clearly. To make sure that we have a successful Zoom session you must ensure that you:

  • Are respectful, polite and considerate of others at all times.
  • Listen carefully to the teacher and what others say.
  • Wait for your teacher to un-mute you.
  • Do not try and distract other children in the session (e.g. by pulling a silly face).
  • Do not change your background because this can distract other children.
  • Do not capture anything on the screen.
  • Do not leave the session unless you absolutely have to.

If you display poor behaviour, you will receive a warning. If this continues, your video and microphone will be disabled, and you may not be able to re-join the session.

I can't wait to see you all!

Good morning Owen,

Yes there is a Zoom session today. The login details for each session remain the same as it is a recurring meeting. If your mum looks at her previous email the details should be on there.

I hope this helps Owen.

See you soon!

Hi Eva,

Use the three images to decide what word with the 'ch' sound the image is describing. The answers do appear in the column of words below.

Word 1 starts with the letter 'c'
Word 2 starts with the letter 'e'
Word 3 starts with the letter 'o'

I hope this helps.
