5B Blog 20.04.2020

Date: 20th Apr 2020 @ 9:26am

Hello 5B,

I hope you had a lovely Easter and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine. What have you been up to over the holidays? Did you manage to do any of the activities I suggested? I'd love to know! I've enjoyed spending time in my garden eating my chocolate eggs. smiley

Your home learning overview for this week can be found on our class page. Go to 'Class Pages'; choose 5B and scroll down until you see 'Files to Download' - 'Year 5 Home Learning wb 20.04.20'. Have a look through all of the activities. If you have any questions, please reply to this blog. You will notice on English lesson 1, I have asked you to share your work with us on our class blog. I would love to hear from ALL of you; I love receiving an email or blog and I know Miss Wilson does too! smiley

Please remember to log on to TT RockStars and Purple Mash over the week. I check it daily to see who has been logging on regularly and check your improvements on your ATM and studio speed. It's great to see so many of you going on striving for that top spot on the leader board!

Enjoy the sunshine and have a good week! I look forward to hearing from you all.

Mrs Berry

We are sorry that you can’t blog at the moment. The school website platform is having a few problems and we are working hard to try and get them fixed. Please keep checking the blog or you could email us on Purple Mash instead.

This is my Wild Wood description:
The wood looked abandoned. Ominously quiet apart from a few distant caws from overhead ravens and the repeating splash of a river. A myriad of shriveled, crumpled leaves lay scattered helplessly, waiting for the gust of wind to wish them to someplace new. The wind made howls with its fierce gusts. The trees towered over the sky, creating a metaphorical roof, sending the whole wood into an eternal darkness so thick that even a cat wouldn't have been able to see through. The surrounding trees also made looming silhouettes with long talons and spiky teeth. Everyone around knew that the Wild Wood was not a great place to wander aimlessly into! You would be screaming with fear and speeding out. The rustle and jostle of a bird or creepy crawly or the snap of a twig underfoot would be enough to send a chill down your spine and make you turn on your heels, ready to flee. Whenever you pass or have the courage to step into this gloomy wood, an eerie sensation passes through you and anyone nearby, making your teeth chatter and make the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end like a soldier on patrol.

Though if you lasted past the entrance to this forest, you may have been able to spot a tranquil river, with its calm and soothing splashes onto the water bank, the water still and smooth. With the trees gone, a bright, sweltering hot afternoon sun reflects off the waves making them glint and gleam. It was as if you'd stepped into a different world, as if you'd been magically transported to a calmer land, far, far away from the darkness of the Wild Wood. It felt like a paradise!

Hi Jack
I have done the challenge this morning and I struggled on 7, 9 and 10 so I skipped them. For number 8 I shaded 1 green for 2 whites and then 4 green for 1 white. I hope this helps. Chat later. Ollie
