Date: 8th Jun 2020 @ 9:07am

Good morning 5B!

How are you? I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

Your home learning overview can be found on our class page. Simply go to 'Class Pages'; choose 5B and scroll down until you see 'Files to Download' - 'Year 5 Home Learning wb 8.06.20'. Have a look through all of the activities. If you have any questions, please reply to this blog or use Purple Mash 2Email. I think you will particularly enjoy art this week, as you will be producing a nature and weather journal. You're doing a great job shaing your work on Twitter and via email! I love looking at the work you've completed. smiley Also, if any of you have made your Hello-crow, I'd love to hear all about them and see the pictures too.

Our Zoom sessions will start again this week so make sure you read the Zoom blog, where you will find more information about the focus of the session. I can't wait to see you all!

Finally, a battle has been set on TT Rockstars this week. 5B v 5W - let the battle commence! It was such a close battle last time, but I've got a really good feeling about this one. Come on 5B we can do it!

Have a lovely week and I hope you enjoy the tasks.

Hi Mrs Berry,
I'd like to share my first paragraph of a story i am writing during lockdown called Theres Jelly In My Welly:
There was once a boy named James who lived on the island of Jellyville with his mum, dad and baby sister Lydia. Why is where James lives called Jellyville I hear you ask. Well for decades sticky gooey jelly of all colours had been protruding from the outskirts of the busy town. Rumor had it that under the blanket of darkness, fearless monsters called the Jelly Giants roamed, spilling jelly al over the place. But where it came from or how it came was still a mystery...
Hope you liked it,

Hi everyone,
Here is my paragraph,
Sat in a car with Dad and l am so bored because he just keeps going on about how Grandpa NoNo isn't boring. l think he is nothing but boring though, "He only knows how to do boring grown up stuff!" I reply to Dad for the one millionth time.
"We're here!" Dad says enthusiastically.
'Come on!' I thought 'This is just as boring as being in a car!' Dad gets out and l follow but the step is too high, so I end up falling out and landing on my bum with a THUMP! 'Ow' l thought and went over to see boring old Grandpa NoNo.
Hope you all have a nice week,
Albie

Hi everyone, hope you're all ok. This is my science work for this week, hope you enjoy.

I think an egg in salt water will float in the middle because the density is different. The salt water has more density.
The liquid in an egg A keeps on moving causing the egg to spin for a couple of seconds after stopping it with my hand. I think Egg B is hard boiled because it doesn't carry on spinning.
In both tests both predictions were right.
We did the salt water experiment where tap water floats above salt water and we put food colouring in and it hovered half way. So the food colouring was suspended half way down the glass. You could see the salt water layer looking through the glass. It was great fun.

Hi Jack,

Thank you for sharing the news about the new published text. This book would be an excellent choice in preparation for year 6.

I loved reading your introduction to your story 'There's Jelly in My Welly'. You can't just leave us on that cliffhanger we need more Jack!

I hope you're having a lovely week.

Hi Albie,

Thank you for sharing your English work with us. I loved your sentence 'I reply to Dad for the one millionth time'. You've captured the tone perfectly as it is clear he doesn't want to spend time with his Grandad.

Did you enjoy watching the animation?

I hope you're having a lovely week.

Hi Ollie,

It sounds like you had lots of fun being a scientist for the afternoon! Thank you for sharing your predictions and findings with us. Great use of scientific vocabulary too - Miss Worden and Mrs Dutton would be impressed!

I hope you're having a lovely week.

Hi,
Here is my diary entry.

Today just started off like any other day. I was roaming around my dad's garage looking for something interesting to do when I stumbled upon an old, dusty cart. On the side in big letters it said 'Radio Flyer'. My eyes couldn't believe what they were seeing! Even though it was old, to me it looked like a brand new, glistening, red adventure mobile. Without thinking, I jumped into it and before I knew it, my dad appeared and started pulling me along. That's when I heard the lazer zaps from alien spaceships coming towards us. Suddenly, the Radio Flyer turned into a space jet-ski! My dad tapped a mysterious, green button and a lazer zapper appeared in front of me. Quickly I started firing at the space ships. Pow, pow, pow! Within seconds, I had destroyed all of them except for the big one. My dad pressed another button and the zapper upgraded into a lazer cannon. Bullseye! I shot the mother ship and it vaporised in the blink of an eye! I felt my heart thumping like a jack hammer as excitement ran through my body. We had won!

Today was amazing! I can't wait to see what adventures tomorrow will bring.
Ted

Hope you liked it.

HI

I want to share my Dear Diary entry.
dear Diary
Today started like any other day, I got up had my breakfast, got dressed, brushed my teeth and went out to play in the garden with my ball. While I was playing I spotted a small red cart with wheels, I ran to ask my dad if I could play with it and he said I will take you for as ride! Something Magical happened on this ride I saw all types of animals that had escaped from the Zoo! We were running from the Lions and swimming with the Sea Lions, it was CRAZY! When we got back home I was very tired so I went for a nap. WHAT A GREAT DAY!!

Did you enjoy the animation Daniel?

I hope you have a lovely day.

Yes I did thank you. I am working on Geography today and I am enjoying learning about different facts about the Countries and enjoying drawing the flags of each. I might share this on twitter later today.
